Job Description:
We’re currently looking to recruit Mechanical Craft Team Member for our Llanwern site, Cranes & Lifting Dept. Within the role, you will perform preventative maintenance ,inspection and repair work on the sites EOT Cranes.
As a Mechanical Craft Team Member, you will be responsible for ensuring all activity is undertaken within Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and in compliance with company and legislative requirements. You will work as part of a team to ensure engineering performance on an ongoing basis, support engineering development plans and identify opportunities for improvement.
The role has a huge impact on operational performance as the cranes and lifting equipment are required to move product and stock throughout many key parts of our business including coils for dispatch to our customers.
The Candidate :
You’ll be qualified to ONC/NVQ 3 level, which will have normally been obtained through a craft apprenticeship in mechanical engineering or hold a Modern Apprenticeship certificate.
The applicant must be comfortable with at working at heights, work well within a multi skilled team and preferably have a relevant engineering background and demonstrable experience of cranes and lifting equipment on a high hazard site: preferably from petrochemicals or Heavy Industry manufacturing background, although other industries may be considered.
As a Mechanical Craft Team Member, you’ll have relevant plant experience in mechanical systems and be capable of the safe execution of engineering repair work. Experience in Gearbox’s, lubrication systems, drive shafts and couplings, bearings, crane hoist rope inspection, general maintenance inspection and sling and lifting activities would be advantageous but not essential as we can provide you with this training.
- Good communication skills required, as the post holder will have to deal with all levels of personnel.
- Basic computer literacy
- Be conversant with present PUWER/LOLER regulations
- Understanding operation of permit systems
