Job Description:
Aerodynamic & Mechanical > Tower Module > Tower Internals
Tower Internals is a Sub Module of the Tower Module within the Aerodynamic & Mechanical area in Vestas Power Solutions (Vestas R&D). Vestas Power Solution is a business unit where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, maintained and tested. Vestas Power Solutions operates on a global scale with more than 1,300 employees.
Power Solutions, Tower module is the technology department responsible for the design and innovation of Vestas Towers. The Tower organization is 100+ efficient responsible for the design, development, industrialization and lifecycle support of tower products.
We are a team of diverse people with different technical competencies, educational backgrounds and personal traits. We are very open-minded and encourage a go-do-approach.
Responsibilities :
- Identification and requirements specification for the Tower Internals Building Blocks
- Design new solutions from early conceptualization to final detail design
- Optimization of the solutions through FEA assessment and structural calculation
- Verification of the new solutions performing Fit, Form and Function tests in our wind Turbine Tower prototypes
- Coordinate suppliers and co-develop new Building Blocks through Technical Purchase Specifications
- Lead technical work-packages ensuring safety, quality, time and cost expectations
Qualifications :
- Bachelor or Master´s degree in Mechanical, Structural, Industrial or Aeronautical Engineering
- Minimum professional experience: 5 years in new product development within the wind industry or similar
- Proven experience in delivering technical work-packages and design through suppliers
- Proven experience with systems engineering or design for six sigma methodologies
- Mechanical design and BoM creation using CAD tools, like CREO
- Structural analysis using FEA tools, like Ansys

- Ability to coordinate and handle suppliers
- Great interpersonal skills and ability to interact with multi-cultural and diverse teams all around the globe
- Customer-focused and solution-oriented
- Proven ability to work both with limited supervision and in teams in an environment with tight deadlines
- Open-minded and good at sharing and gathering information within a team to bridge the gap between design and value chain
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to plan, scope and organize work package execution
- Self-motivated and target focused - Innovative and enthusiastic with good attention to detail and willingness to take ownership to meet expectations
